Premium Massage Chair Features Without the Premium Price
The Costway Kenzo combines a 4D + 3D dual roller system, flexible massage track, excellent stretching, calf and foot rollers, 42 airbags, heat and 20 automatic programs into one feature-packed massage chair.
Why the Kenzo Surprised Me
The Kenzo was one of those massage chairs that genuinely surprised me. After sitting in more than 200 massage chairs, I don't get overly excited about a chair just because it has a long feature list. What matters is how those features actually perform when you sit in it.
The first things that stood out to me were the quality of the materials, the dual roller massage, the stretching program and how much adjustability you get for the money.
I recently had customers in my showroom who tried more than 20 different massage chairs. They ultimately chose the Kenzo as their favorite balance of price and functionality. That says a lot about this chair.
If you're looking for a premium-feeling massage chair but don't necessarily want to pay a premium price just for a brand name, the Kenzo deserves a serious look.
A True 4D + 3D Dual Roller Massage
One of the Kenzo's biggest differentiators is its dual massage mechanism. Instead of relying on a single roller mechanism, the chair combines an upper 4D mechanism with an additional 3D mechanism to massage multiple areas of the body.
In manual mode, you can customize roller positioning to place additional attention where you want it. This gives the Kenzo a level of coverage and customization normally associated with much more expensive massage chairs.
51" Flexible Massage Track
The Kenzo's flexible massage track follows the body from the neck through the hips and thighs while allowing the chair to transition from an upright massage position into a much flatter reclined position.
That flexibility becomes particularly important during stretching and reclined massage programs because the rollers can continue following the contours of your body as the chair changes position.
One of My Favorite Features: Thai Stretching
Not all massage chair stretching programs are created equal. The Kenzo's Thai massage program is one of its standout features.
Air compression helps secure portions of the body while the chair changes position, creating a noticeable stretch through the back and lower body. The Kenzo also incorporates an ankle stretch, which is a feature I don't see on every massage chair.
Full-Body Air Compression, Heat & Leg Massage
The Kenzo uses 42 airbags positioned throughout the shoulders, arms, hips, calves and feet. These airbags provide compression massage and also play an important role in the chair's stretching programs.
The lower-body massage is particularly well equipped. Dedicated calf rollers provide a noticeable scraping-style massage while 3-speed foot rollers work underneath the feet.
Heating elements around the waist and calves add warmth to the massage experience.
20 Automatic Massage Programs
Sometimes you don't want to customize anything. You just want to sit down, select a program and relax. The Kenzo gives you 20 automatic programs covering relaxation, recovery, stretching and targeted areas of the body.
Programs include Total Relax, Chinese Massage, Fatigue Recovery, Thai Massage, Neck & Shoulder Care, Waist Care, Leg & Foot Relief, Sport Recovery, Sleep Aid and more.
Automatic Body Detection & Wellness Monitoring
The Kenzo automatically detects the user's body position to help determine appropriate massage points and massage range. You can then fine-tune the roller position to get the massage exactly where you want it.
In my testing, I found the Kenzo's body scan to work well. However, I recommend fine-tuning the shoulder position on virtually any massage chair rather than simply accepting the automatic position.
The chair also includes sensors that display wellness-related measurements including heart rate, blood oxygen, fatigue index and microcirculation information through the touchscreen.
Wellness monitoring features are intended for general informational purposes and are not a substitute for professional medical evaluation, diagnosis or monitoring.
3 Zero Gravity Positions
Choose from three zero gravity positions to find the recline angle that feels best to you. The backrest and leg position can also be adjusted independently using the chair's dual electric linear actuators.
Despite its extensive recline capability, the Kenzo's space-saving design requires approximately 4 inches of clearance from the wall.
Smart Controls & Everyday Convenience
The LCD touchscreen makes it easy to navigate the Kenzo's programs and settings, while armrest shortcut controls provide quick access to frequently used adjustments.
Who I Recommend the Costway Kenzo For
I would put the Kenzo on your shortlist if you're looking for:
- A dual roller massage chair without immediately jumping into the highest price tier
- A strong full-body stretching program
- Noticeable calf and foot massage
- A combination of automatic programs and manual customization
- Adjustable massage intensity from gentler to stronger settings
- Premium-feeling upholstery and materials
- A feature-rich chair with an easy-to-use touchscreen interface
A Few Things to Know Before You Buy
No massage chair is perfect for every person. One thing I noticed on the Kenzo is that you'll want to make sure your feet are positioned toward the back of the foot wells when you get into the chair. Otherwise, they can naturally move toward the front during certain movements.
Taller users should also take the time to fine-tune the shoulder position after the automatic body scan so the rollers reach the desired area around the neck and shoulders.
These aren't deal breakers for me, but they're the kinds of details I think buyers should know before purchasing a massage chair.
Costway Kenzo Size & Dimensions
